Murder and Mayhem

28 Sep 2010

Corporal Jeremy N. Morlock and four of his buds in the 5th Stryker Combat Brigade, of the 2nd Infantry Division, are charged with pre-meditated murder in the alleged execution–FOR SPORT–of at least three Afghan civilians.  According to Cpl. Morlock, his team was ordered by a superior to kill the innocent civilians and then display the bodies, and body parts like hunter’s trophies. In the accompanying video Morlock details in nonchalant detail how all five solders, Staff Sgt. Calvin R. Gibbs, Spec Adam C. Winfield, Spec. Michael S. Wagnon II, Pfc. Andrew H. Holmes and Morlock were strung out on hashish “at least 3 or 4 days a week.”  He said war is tough and they just needed to take the “edge off” or some other such nonsense.

Sounds a bit like the days of Vietnam, except those military personnel were drafted and our latter day murderers (okay, alleged) joined the war-effort knowing they were heading for combat in either Afghanistan, Iraq or somewhere else in the Middle East.  So, yes, if these guys and their superior(s) are guilty–hang ‘em.  Hang ‘em high!

But I have a question for you:  I know we’re a strong Republic.  I know we take whatever the world dishes.  Yada yada yada and a blah blah too.  But, should the military be releasing video(s) showing one of their own talking about the days of murder and mayhem?  I don’t think so!  The nutty insurgents, terrorists and die-hard Muslim “We hate America” crowd are just looking for ways to make us look like the evil ones.  One more recruit–one more anti-America campaign–gives them one more chance to kill AMERICANS!  Nope, I think the military is wrong for putting this out there–just as they did with the “torture” at Abu Grahib and Gitmo.  The propogandists already attack at every chance, why give them any real palpable evidence?

Don’t get me wrong.  Try the suckers and if they are guilty, they’re done.  Just not convinced we should leave all of this hatred (and testimony) in the hands of extremists!

And, one more question: When a soldier tells his parents he is being forced to follow orders that violate laws (Which is obviously ILLEGAL and can be refused without repercussion!) who is more to blame for his actions, the soldier or the military?

As a proud mother of a soldier this sickens me. NO the govenment should not release these kind of videos because it implies that all our military members are like those in the video, which is not the case. The military is as large as a major city in the US, and like those cities, not all members are upstanding citizens. We just expect military members to do better. People need to get back to “doing the right thing” even if it means they have to take responsibility and consequences. These soldiers made a decision to follow orders, even though they knew it was wrong, so now they will deal with the consequences. And DON’T use the excuse of drugs because no one makes you smoke the pipe, inject or consume anything – that’s a personal decision.

Miss you on the air but so glad to find your website and anxiously waiting for your new book to hit my mailbox!

They’re the same Afghan terrorists who hold up unfired cartridges and missiles and claim they are they very same which came smashing through the window.
